Dr. Alan Cooper has a Ph.D. in basic neurosciences, focused on understanding the development inhibitory circuitry in the brain using single-cell techniques. Dr. Cooper has since managed large-scale brain research networks across Canada, including the CHILD-BRIGHT Network and the Province of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Disorders (POND) Network.
Research scientist focused on integrating multimodal datasets to study the neuroscience of neurodevelopmental conditions, including cross-species analyses linking human populations and mouse models. Experienced in structural and functional MRI, behavioural and psychological assessments, and genetic data, with expertise in frequentist and Bayesian statistics, machine learning, and representation learning.
Julia Carbone is a Research Coordinator at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital with over three years of experience running studies within the Autism Research Centre. She manages participant recruitment, supports with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning, administers psychometric assessments and interviews with neurodivergent children and adults.
Dr. Danielle Baribeau is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and clinician scientist at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital in Toronto, Canada, with clinical expertise in autism, rare genetic conditions, and psychopharmacology. She leads a research program focused on clinically translating genetic advances into improved clinical care for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. Her research program uses 1) health administrative data linked to genomic data and 2) clinical trials to study health outcomes and emerging treatments in neurodevelopmental and rare genetic conditions. She is also the clinical lead of the Ontario Provincial Genetics Program Neurodevelopmental Disorders Expert Group, guiding health system decisions regarding eligibility for genetic testing.
Dr. Evdokia Anagnostou is a Child Neurologist and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto as well as Vice President of Research at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and Director of the Bloorview Research Institute. As a Senior Clinician Scientist, she co-leads the Autism Research Centre (ARC) at Holland Bloorview and University of Toronto. She has held the Canada Research Chair in Translational therapeutics in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and currently holds the Dr. Stuart D. Sims Chair in Autism at Holland Bloorview and University of Toronto. She is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
Dr. Anagnostou has received extensive international funding to understand the underlying biological differences associated with ASD and other neurodevelopmental differences, and translate such understandings into potential novel interventions. She has also received funding in health system innovation, partner engagement, and in understanding the meaning and impact of neurodevelopmental conditions in marginalized populations. She has served on multiple government committees on improving diagnostic and intervention pathways and several editorial boards and grant review panels. She has also been recognized for her contributions to training young clinicians and scientists and for her commitment to women in STEM. She currently represents the America Region-North on the International Society for Autism Research Global Senior Leaders committee.
